About — Vanezuva (Vanessa Z.V.)

I am an interdisciplinary artist and cultural researcher working across video, sound, photography, painting, AI, and blockchain. My practice examines how dominant narratives shape who is seen, heard, and excluded.

My work draws on a background in human rights education and over fifteen years designing community-centered programs within museums, schools, and public institutions. I treat these spaces and the technologies that run through them as material, using art to investigate how value is produced and creative labor distributed.

I focus on resource extraction and digital power in relation to the Global South and diasporic experience. Using my own photographs, field recordings, and paintings, I merge lived reality with surrealism and abstraction to reflect on how people and nature become commodified, and where art might intervene.

I engage AI, blockchain, and digital media for what they omit, distort, or erase, reintroducing human intervention and care through interactive archival systems and participatory platforms.

My practice asks: how might the futures we build be more just, inclusive, and regenerative while remaining accountable to the communities and contexts they engage?
